Prior to graduating from veterinary school, she worked as a technician for over 6 years in Kentucky. Completing her internship for veterinary school at a mixed animal practice in western Pennsylvania, she moved to northern New Jersey for a couple years.   Dr. McKenzie spent time learning as an associate veterinarian, until she accepted a position as a lead doctor/medical director in 1998.  After 2000, Dr. Mckenzie moved to Delaware to be closer to her family.  In 2005, Dr. McKenzie started her mobile practice in effort to spend more time quality time with her patients/clients and avoid the rush of every day clinic practice. Spending time with her rescued household of dogs and cats is something she enjoys, because everyone arrived at her doorstep with their own stories and issues!!!  In her free time, Dr. McKenzie enjoys gardening, reading, and antique hunting. As a certified grief counselor, Dr. McKenzie provided information to families to get thru the difficulties of end of life care. Dr. McKenzie was a second place winner in the News Journal Readers Choice Awards as best veterinarian in the area in 2003, and in 2014 was voted BEST veterinarian thru the News Journal Readers' Choice.  THANKS for your votes!!  In 2008, Dr. McKenzie was nominated as the best veterinarian in America by her clients.  Also, DR. McKenzie has also published several informative articles in local publications. She has been a guest lecturer at many events in the area including CFA cat show, Paws for Life, and career days for schools and colleges. Supporting local organizations and her clients in their endeavors including AIDS Delaware, Reedy Point Players, Forgotten Cats, etc. has allowed Dr. Mckenzie to give back to the community that she enjoys.  Dr. McKenzie is also a member of numerous veterinary organizations and is licensed in several states.   Client education is one of the most important parts of her visit to your home, and Dr McKenzie strives to make certain that her clients understand their pets' issues.
